The clad rupture in the CABRI-TOP LMFBR safety experiments
- 1. CEA Centre d'Etudes Nucleaires de Cadarache, 13 - Saint-Paul-les-Durance (France)
Description
During a severe transient-over-power in a LMFBR, the starting point of all phenomena influencing the further evolution of the reactivity is the failure of the fuel cladding. Therefore, special attention is devoted to this problem in the development of accident analysis codes. The aim of this presentation is to describe the modelling and the criteria used to predict clad failure in the PHYSURA code. Some examples of the validation of this modelling using CABRI-TOP experiments leading to clad failure is also given. (orig.)
