Raman scattering from electronic excitations of samarium in semiconducting and metallic Smsub(1-x)Ysub(x)S
Description
The Raman effect of Smsub(1-x)Ysub(x)S for x <= 0.4 have been measured. Electronic scattering between the J = 0 ground state and the J = 1 and 2 excited states of Sm2+ is observed. The singlet-triplet transition is observed on both sides of the black to gold phase transition in Smsub(1-x)Ysub(x)S. (author)
