On the entropy of a quantum field
Description
Recently, Kandrup and Hu have proposed a new definition of nonequilibrium entropy for a quantum field. This letter shows that that definition is consistent with conventional wisdom by demonstrating that, for a massless Klein-Gordon field at equilibrium in Minkowski space, one recovers the ordinary entropy associated with a Wigner function.
