Description

The de Haas-van Alphen oscillations in CeB6 in strong magnetic fields originate from a single spin Fermi surface sheet. Meanwhile, the other spin-sheet is strongly damped. Studies of CexLa1-xB6 low-concentration alloys have indicated that the two spin sheets have nearly the same Fermi surface, with the a non integral number of 4f-electrons per Ce ion contributing to the overall volume. The topology of the Fermi surface is observed to deform in a magnetic field, although the total volume remains constant. (author)
