Thermal decomposition of barium and strontium carbonates and their solid solutions

  • 1. Ivanovskij Khimiko-Tekhnologicheskij Inst. (USSR)

Description

Binary barium and strontium carbonates have been investigated and obtained by the conventional industrial process and also by a procedure providing for co-precipitation of barium and strontium carbonates upon interaction of their nitrates with (NH4)2CO3 and eliminating the inhomogeneity of the chemical and phase composition of the binary carbonate binary. It has been established that BaO-BaCO3 and SrO-SrCO3 are systems with limited solubility of the components in the solid phase. By extrapolation from the region of existence of conjugate saturated solid solutions MO-MCO3 to the zero degree of decomposition of the dissociation isotherms of individual carbonates of alcaline-earth metals one can determine the true value of the equilibrium pressure of these systems in the region of conjugate saturated solutions
