Description

Porous α-MoO3 wire as an irradiation target was developed to be used in the neutron capture (n, γ) method to produce 99Mo/99mTc. Porous α-MoO3 wire was synthesized from Mo wire by a two-step heating procedure. The activity, and time irradiated were investigated by theoretically calculating and simulating with MCNPX code. Then all the investigations will be verified by irradiation in Dalat Nuclear Research Reactor. Water was used to extract 99Mo in the porous wire after irradiating. The results were combined with the Kyoto University Reactor (KUR) experiments, hot atoms enhanced the extraction of 99Mo to water and the effectiveness in the porous wire was compared to that of commercial powder.
