Description
This issue mainly reports contributions of a colloquium which addressed the issue of renewable marine energies (RMEs). These contributions propose an overview of the situation of seas and coasts in front of the perspectives of development of RMEs, describe a typical offshore wind energy project, propose a focus on marine current turbines installed along the Cotentin coasts, discuss the social and economic impacts of RMEs. They also describes the various aspects of the typical experience related to RMEs which can be faced by a mayor of French coastal commune. The numerous research and technological development aspects in the field of RMEs are overviewed. A contribution presents France Energies Marines, a research institute dedicated to RMEs which gathers public and private members (industrial groups, SMEs, research bodies, universities, regional authorities (programmes, objectives, installations and facilities, and so on). The last contribution proposes an overview of the RME sector the Basse-Normandie region (a crucial role for RME development in France and in Europe, a unique political commitment, its research network)
