The structure of surface layers in irradiated PbTe films

  • 1. Carpathian University, Ivano-Frankovsk (Ukraine)

Description

The effect of α-irradiation on PbTe epitaxial structures was studied. The thickness of the distorted surface layer was found to increase with the exposure dose. The annealing of the films treated with the exposure dose Φ=1012 cm-2 resulted in a decrease of the thickness of the distorted surface layer with the value Δd/d remaining constant. For a higher initial dose (Φ=2.4x1012 cm-2), the subsequent isothermal annealing in air did not restore the parameters of the surface layer structure. A mechanism of radiation defect formation was suggested
