The environmental impact of nuclear power

The British Nuclear Energy Society's conference in April 1981, which is reported here, reviewed scientific and technical facts in an attempt to assist all concerned with the rational and balanced assessment of the impact of nuclear power on the environment. Subjects discussed in the papers reviewed include; the nuclear debate, the fundamentals of radiation protection philosophy, transport of radioactive materials, solid radioactive waste disposal into the Atlantic Ocean, the effects of reactor accidents, the proliferation problem, and waste management.
