What is Nuclear Power ?
Description
Energy policy embraces both active (intervention) and passive (legal framework/ideology) measures taken by the state to control and oversee processes within the energy economy with the aim of securing a smooth balancing of energy supply and energy demand. Four central criteria can be identified: - energy should be moderately priced (in order to avoid competitive disadvantages for the national economy and an excessive burden on individual living standards); - energy must be constantly available (in order to ensure an uninterrupted supply to both industrial and private consumers); - processes for the utilization or conversion of energy should be environmentally acceptable, i.e. should not entail damage to the biosphere; - processes for the utilization or conversion of energy should be acceptable to society as a whole, and the particular sections affected.
