Description
Investment in waste treatment and encapsulation facilities, at Sellafield is described. These include the Pound 140 m Site Ion Exchange Effluent Plant (SIXEP), the Pound 13 m Salt Evaporator, a Pound 200 m Enhanced Actinide Removal Plant (EARP), and associated waste packaging and encapsulation plant. In addition, a vitrification plant is about to go into operation which will deal with the site's high-level waste. Each is explained briefly. (author)
