On the scattering of protons at 400GeV in a wire array placed at the front of an electrostatic septum
Description
In this paper the scattering of protons in a wire array placed at the front of an electrostatic septum is studied by a Monte-Carlo method. The effects of the parameters is examined, i.e., the nature and diameter of the wires, the distance between the axis of the wires, and the length of and distance of the wires array from the septum. In the most favourable conditions such a network would reduce proton loss by approximately 50% in the ejection area. (Auth.)
