Experience gained with the decontamination of the inside of hot cells

Description
For extensive construction work inside of hot cells intensive decontamination has to be carried out in order to keep the burden for personnel due to irradiation and difficult working conditions (for instance breething in protective suits) while working in a cave as low as possible. This is necessary especially if after long periods of hot operation the installations of caves have to be repaired or exchanged. An example of such work in the Juelich Hot Laboratory shows that decontamination close to zero-radiation levels can be carried out for decommissioning. (orig.)

Zur Durchfuehrung umfangreicher Arbeiten in Heissen Zellen muss eine weitgehende Dekontamination durchgefuehrt werden, um die Personenbelastung durch Strahlung und erschwerte Arbeitsbedingungen (z.B. Fremdbelueftung von Schutzanzuegen) beim Betreten der Zelle so gering als moeglich zu halten. Dies ist insbesondere noetig, wenn nach laengerer Arbeitskampagne die Einrichtung von Zellen ueberholt oder ausgewechselt werden soll. Es wird am Beispiel einer in den Juelicher Heissen Zellen durchgefuehrten Aktion gezeigt, dass auch eine vollstaendige Dekontamination durchfuehrbar ist, um eine Ausserbetriebnahme zu ermoeglichen.
