Seismic fragility testing of a motor control centre and its component devices

Description

A Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) is to be carried out for Sizewell 'B' NPS, which will need fragility data for some of the safety-related equipment. Currently such data are both limited and have high uncertainties, thus additional work is being carried out to improve the quality of some of the data. Preliminary work indicated that relays, switching contacts and other safety-related light electrical equipment found in a Motor Control Centre (MCC) were suitable items upon which to carry out a pilot study. Such a study was carried out by NNC between January - December 1988
