Description

Since electrochemical nuclear fusion reactions are caused at a region where kinetic energy of nuclei is extremely low, nuclei pass through a potential barrier by a tunnel effect and the generation efficiency of the energy is extremely low. Then, in the present invention, a cathode comprising an alkali metal-doped π-electron compound and an anode comprising a noble metal are disposed in an electrolytic cell substantially containing heavy water and support electrolytic ingredients. Support electrolytic ingredients are selected in respect of an effect of suppressing decomposition of a complex of alkali metal-π electron type compound and an effect of increasing the efficiency of nuclear fusion. In particular, if lithium is contained in the support electrolytes, about twice energy as compared with a case of using other support electrolytic ingredients is generated. Since heavy water in the electrolytes is electrolyzed and the generated deuterium is absorbed to the cathode efficiently, nuclear fusion is taken place at high efficiency. Accordingly, the efficiency can be further improved by the selecting materials for the cathode. (N.H.)
