Phases of variable composition (Re6Te-8-xYx)Te7 (Y=S, Se) on the basis of rhenium telluride

High-temperature reactions of rhenium, cluster telluride (Re6Te8)Te7 with elementary sulfur and selenium, leading to formation of variable composition phases solid solutions of substitution-type Re6Te-8-xYx)Te7, where Y=S, Se; 0≤x≤8, are studied. Precision determination of elementary cell parameters of the above phases, obtained through the method of powder roentgenography, is accomplished. It is established that the lattice parameters naturally decrease with increase in sulfur and selenium content in the cluster nucleus. NMR-spectroscopic evidence is obtained that these phases with various x-values constitute the totality of chemical forms of various composition and their isomers. Thermal stability of solid solutions is studied
