Description
The low-lying states of 147Sm and 149Sm have been studied by means of Coulomb excitation with both 16O and 4He projectiles. In the case of 149Sm, additional information was provided by the study of γ-rays following the radioactive decay of 149 Eu and the 148Nd(α,3n) reaction. Level energies, decay schemes, B(E2) values and some spin assignments have been established. A multiparticle-vibration coupling model calculation gives a good description of the spins, energies and E2 transition probabilities of the collective states observed in 147Sm and 149Sm. The model also describes these properties for the low-lying states in the neighbouring even-mass isotopes. (Auth.)
