A computer model for wind-induced vibrations of guyed masts

Description

Guyed masts are sensitive to vibrations caused by wind turbulence, vortex shedding and a variety of galloping mechanisms. A new computer model has been established for the analysis of masts subjected to any of these excitations. A review of the wind engineering problems of guyed masts revealed that the progress in the dynamic analysis of these structures has been retarded over years by difficulties in representing the interaction between guys and the mast. As the first step to our developments, therefore, a new model was derived for the dynamic and aeroelastic behaviour of guy cables. (author)
