Tolerance and efficacy of iopentol in cerebral angiography

  • 1. National Hospital for Nervous Diseases, London (UK). Lysholm Radiological Dept.

Description

The tolerability and radiographic efficacy of iopentol in conventional cerebral angiography was evaluated in a single centre study. The trial was conducted in two parts; one as an open trial and one as a randomised double-bling trial using iohexol for comparison. All examinations were conducted using local anaesthesia, under contiuous monitoring of ECG, pulse and blood pressure, and each case was followed for 24 hours in hospital. Cardiovascular and neurological transient abnormalities of no clinical importance occured with both iopentol and iohexol. No significant difference between the two media was detected. Iopentol is a satisfactory contrast medium for use in conventional cerebral angiography. (author). 5 refs.; 3 tabs
