Extraction chromatography of lanthanides
Description
Extraction chromatography separation of lanthanides is reviewed. Extraction of these elements-main parameters and mechanism of the given process, has been discussed before. Lanthanides are extracted according to one of three main mechanisms: as chelates with acidic extracting agents, solvated salts and in the form of ion pairs. Examples of extraction according to these meachanisms are given. The essence of the double-double effect is described. The way of its manifestation for free energies and enthalpies of f-element complexing reactions is discussed in detail. Extraction chromatography methods of lanthanide separation and partition using extracting agents of different types are reviewed. The resolution of columns used for lanthanide separation is defined
