Extraction chromatography of lanthanides

Extraction chromatography separation of lanthanides is reviewed. Extraction of these elements-main parameters and mechanism of the given process, has been discussed before. Lanthanides are extracted according to one of three main mechanisms: as chelates with acidic extracting agents, solvated salts and in the form of ion pairs. Examples of extraction according to these meachanisms are given. The essence of the double-double effect is described. The way of its manifestation for free energies and enthalpies of f-element complexing reactions is discussed in detail.
