Elastic scattering of polarized protons from 13C for 9.1 < E/sub p/ < 18.4 MeV
- 1. Tandem Accelerator Laboratory, McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada
Description
The proton elastic scattering cross sections for 13C have been measured at eight angles for proton energies from 9.1 to 18.4 MeV. Angular distributions of cross sections and analyzing powers were measured at 20 angles in 7.50 steps over the range of 300 to 1550 at ten energies between 10 and 17.5 MeV. A spin-1/2 on spin-1/2 phase-shift analysis was performed starting with spin-1/2 on spin-0 phase shifts obtained from an optica model analysis. The transformation from the 1/2 on 0 case to the 1/2 on 1/2 case, when the second 1/2 spin is totally ineffective, is presented and utilized. The results suggest that broad resonances are present near E/sub x/ = 21.5 MeV in 14N
