Integrated monitoring of emissions in thermal power stations
Description
Initially describes Belgian legislation on atmospheric emissions from power generating plants. The legislation means that power plants must monitor many parameters continually to check that standards are being met. The article describes the project Cimbase, the development of a computer based system initially to monitor atmospheric emissions from power plants but which could be expanded for other applications. The application for atmospheric emissions is now in use in Electrabel's sixteen conventional power generating plants and at the Steam and Gas Turbines (STAG) at Drogenbos and Seraing. 9 figs., 2 tabs
