Radiological assessment of local involvement in bone sarcomas

Creators

  • 1. Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, London W1N 6AD (UK)

Description

Conventional radiography remains the best imaging method for the diagnosis of bone neoplasms. Radionuclide scanning reveals activity and unsuspected multiple lesions. CT is most effective in demonstrating the extent of neoplastic spread; it may contribute significantly to management. MRI promises to provide unique information about tumour spread within and outside the skeleton, but the technique is unlikely to ever be as widely available as the other imaging methods
