Radioactive barium in industrial water and industrial waste water - 1973
Creators
Description
Barium-139 and barium-140 were determined in water at concentrations less than 10-7 Ci/1 by repeated precipitations with Ba carrier as BaCl2 from cold HCl solutions, final precipitation as BaSO4 for determination of chemical yield, and counting of the barium by gamma or beta counters. Large amounts of stable Ba cause an overestimation of chemical yield. For a single operator, the precision of the method is better than 2% for a random counting error of less than 1%
