Quality assurance system in nuclear engineering

Due to the close connection between the German Atomic Energy Law and the nuclear control regulations, quality systems in nuclear engineering have taken on a special form. Quality assurance systems as a stipulated organisation of structure and procedure to assure quality have implications for the organisation of the electric supply company at the planning, erection and commissioning stage and for the organisation of the nuclear power station facility. To supervise the application and effectiveness of the stipulated organisation of structure and procedure internally and externally among contractors, special organisation units have been set up at the plant suppliers, manufactures, electric supply companies and nuclear power station facilities, which in the electric supply field go by the name of Quality Assurance Supervision.
