Confinement, nonlocal field theory, and electromagnetic interaction

  • 1. Tuebingen Univ. (Germany, F.R.). Inst. fuer Theoretische Physik

Description

The authors introduce an electromagnetic coupling of the free quarks to the photon field which satisfies the requirements of charge conservation. Then they consider charged closed loops, particularly with vacuum polarization. They obtaine a finite theory of free quarks interacting with the electromagnetic field which does not yield nontrivial S-matrix elements to any finite order of perturbation theory. (HSI)
