Pu: recycle or vitrify
Creators
Description
The problem of Pu utilization in the USA, which arose as a result of nuclear weapon dismantling, is discussed. The weapon plutonium amounting to about 50 tons should be utilized. The Pu burnup in special devices and modified reactors or its vitrification simultaneously with radioactive wastes are considered as the most promising methods. The problem solution requires heavy expenses, that is why great discussion is developed in the US Congress
