MAMMA - DWI-MRI before and after contrast injection

Description
The dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI (DCE-MRI) of the breast is suitable screening for the exclusion of malignant lesions, for the assessment of the fibroglandular tissue and for follow-up. Diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) complements the standard, but also costs additional time. The study group examined whether an implementation in the DCE-MRI 2 minutes after the application of the contrast agent is reliable. To this end, Van der Hoogt et al. conducted an intrapatient study and compared the apparent diffusion coefficients (ADC) of pre- and post-contrast DWI.

Die dynamische kontrastverstärkte MRT (DCE-MRT) der Brust eignet sich als Screening zum Ausschluss maligner Läsionen, zur Beurteilung des fibroglandulären Gewebes und zur Verlaufskontrolle. Die diffusionsgewichtete Bildgebung (DWI) ergänzt den Standard, kostet aber auch zusätzliche Zeit. Die Studiengruppe überprüfte, ob eine Implementierung in das DCE-MRI 2 Minuten nach der Kontrastmittelapplikation zuverlässig ist. Dazu führten Van der Hoogt et al. eine Intrapatientinnenstudie durch und verglichen die apparenten Diffusionskoeffizienten (ADC) von Prä- und Postkontrast-DWI. (© Thieme.
