Radiation quality characteristics
Creators
Description
Characteristics of ionizing radiation quality in application to radiobiology are considered. It is shown that the term of radiation quality represents those characteristics of radiation, which determine spatial distribution of energy transfer by charged particles and influence on irradiation efficiency, when other physical factors (absorbed dose, dose rate or fractionation) remain unchanged. Attention is paid to those characteristics of radiation quality in radiobiologic problems such as linear energy transfer, microdosimetric characteristics, track structure. Calculational results of the absorbed dose by LET for neutrons, ions, π--mesons are presented, and spectra of linear and specific energy are considered
