Search for sub-relativistic particles with the IceCube detector
- 1. DESY, Platanenallee 6, 15738 Zeuthen (Germany)
Description
Cosmic superheavy particles like GUT monopoles, supersymmetric Q-balls or nuclearites would move with velocities close to the virial velocity, v∝c.10-3. By quite different interaction mechanisms, they would generate light which could be detected in neutrino telescopes. The talk presents the results obtained with the Amanda and the Baikal experiments and discusses the corresponding search strategies with the IceCube detector
