Description
(Pb0.5Cd0.5)(La2-xSrx)CuO5-δ is relatively easily synthesized at temperatures between 750 deg. C and 900 deg. C for x = 1.0 ± 0.2. Magnetization curves show that the strongest Meissner signal and highest Tc occur for x = 1.0, with an intragrain Jc for the material of the order of 1x109 A m-2 at 4 K and low field. λL is found to be the smallest for the x = 1.0 composition with λL = 3.8 μm and 4.4 μm for the applied field orientation along the ab- and c-axes respectively. The anisotropy ratio (λab/λc) for all samples is close to 1, showing small anisotropy. Changes in resistivity and in thermopower with x show that the samples are intrinsically highly overdoped with high hole concentrations ≥0.2 and close to Tc(max). (author)
