Optical properties of dysprosium monocrystal

Description
The polarimetric method has been applied to determine optical characteristics of dysprosium monocrystals in two directions relatively to the hexagonal axis. Anisotropy of band-band absorption is revealed. Components of optical conductivity tensor along the hexagonal axis and in the basis plane are determined. It is shown that the basic peculiarities of the experimental dependence of the optical absorption are reflected in analogous dependence calculated theoretically without account of localized 4f-electron contribution
