The anaerobic photolysis of lens α-crystallin: evidence for triplet state mediated photodamage
Creators
- 1. Pennsylvania Univ., Philadelphia, PA (USA). School of Medicine
Description
Anaerobic solutions of lens α-crystallin were subjected to near-UV (>295) irradiation, and the photoproducts were analyzed by fluorescence and room-temperature phosphorescence spectroscopy. This report is the first demonstration of a long-lived triplet state associated with a protein photolysis product. (author)
