Description

Inter-comparisons of solid and chemical dosimeters used for dose qualification at the multipurpose gamma radiation facility in Ghana were undertaken. The dosimetry systems investigated were Ferrous Ammonium Sulphate (Fricke), Ethanol Chlorobenzene (ECB) and Sunna. Dose rate mapping revealed that the centre of symmetry of the irradiation sources while in the irradiation position had shifted by about 6 cm below the required position. The dose rate mapping provided baseline data for setting up quality assurance program for low, medium and high dose irradiation processing. The performance of the dosimeters indicated coverage of dose range applied for gamma processing of agricultural and medical products. (au)
