Description
This paper discusses how detector systems used in nuclear medicine serve to intercept, measure the energy of, and count the γ-ray and x-ray photons that are emitted from a volume, the boundaries of which are defined by a collimator or well. They provide information about the concentration of a radionuclide within the volume, since the rate of photon emission is proportional to this concentration
