A product evaluation strategy for the evaluation of in situ vitrification waste forms
Description
A strategy is proposed for the evaluation of In Situ Vitrification (ISV) waste forms. The strategy was developed to produce data that meet regulatory requirements and which are technically relevant and defendable. Evaluation of the ISV waste form is divided into three general categories: (1) sampling and bulk description, (2) chemical and physical properties, and (3) durability testing. Durability testing is divided into three types of leaching tests. The TCLP to meet minimum regulatory testing requirements, comparing ISV waste forms to similar waste forms and natural analogs and determination of the intrinsic rate of waste form disolution (k+) to provide a source term release of the waste component for risk assessment models
