Complexes of uranium(IV) and thorium(IV) with thiophene-2-carboxylic acid

Description
Stable chelates of uranium(IV) and thorium(IV) of the formulae, U.CL2,U(OAc)2L2 and Th(OAc)L3(LH= thiophene-2-carboxylic acid) have been synthesised from U(OAc)4 or Th(OAc)4. Magnetic susceptibility, IR and reflectance spectra of U(IV) complexes and IR of Th(IV) complex indicate eight coordination for U(IV) in these chelates. (author)
