Description
Corrosion studies on epoxy resin coated and uncoated carbon steel specimens are described. Painted steel sheet represents the most common container material. In the experiments different corrosion scenarios have been considered under simulated conditions of a ground disposal (e.g. concentration of saline waters). This was done in order to asses external container corrosion. The sampled were immersed at 500 C in the coating with scratch and uncoated material conditions. The study shows that the carbon steel containers have to be completely coated with epoxy resin in order to avoid corrosion attack. (author). 12 figs, 3 tabs
