Description
The main objectives of this research are as follows: To develop a rational design procedure for braced-frames in the context of performance-based design to avoid its weak story behavior arises due to damage concentration at one story, To assess and predict the overall dynamic response of braced frames designed as per performance-based design methodology analytically; To experimentally evaluate the behavior of SCBFs with improved the design and detailing of gusset plate connections to accommodate larger drift demands; To study the behavior of braced frames with buckling-restrained dampers installed within the brace under slow-cyclic lateral loading conditions, and To compare the performance of braced frames using steel and aluminium plates as core elements of buckling-restrained devices
