Major factors and constraints in the African energy sector and climate change

In most African countries, progressively worsening shortages of various forms of energy needed for survival and development are spreading rapidly. Biomass fuel availability is deteriorating everywhere. Acute scarcity of biomass for energy use is causing increasing hardship for the rural and urban majority. If, climate change induced by global warming causes dryland ecologies to become drier and subject to more frequent severe droughts, then biomass growth and survival rates can be expected to deteriorate further. This would worsen the already diminishing availability of biomass for energy in African countries. 1 tab
