Description

In vitro investigations on the repair of potentially lethal damage induced by X-rays in Ehrlich-ascites tumour cells have been described. Results indicate that the repair processes are almost complete in 4-6 hr after irradiation. Extent of repair is more in plateau-phase cells than in the exponential phase cells. The glucose antimetabolite, 2-deoxy-D-glucose is able to inhibit repair in these cells. Implications of the results for improving radiotherapy of cancer are discussed. (author)
