Testing for constancy in film processing

Description

Various tools of sensitometry are discussed: Optical sensitometers, direct sensitometry, pre-exposed sensitometer strips with visual evaluation, or densitometry. The three methods are suitable techniques for monitoring the constancy of film processing, given the pre-condition of accurately reproducible exposure of the test films. Optimized film processing guarantees good image quality and reduces the radiation dose to patients. (HP)

Abstract (German)

Drei Methoden der Sensitometrie werden besprochen: Optimale Sensitometer, direkte sensitometrie und vorbelichtete Sensitometerstreifen mit visueller Auswertung oder Densitometrie. Alle drei Methoden sind geeignet, die Konstanz der Filmverarbeitung zu ueberwachen unter der Voraussetzung der genau reproduzierbaren Belichtung der Prueffilme. Eine optimale Filmentwicklung liefert hohe Bildqualitaet und haelt die Strahlenexposition des Patienten niedrig. (HP)
