Description
The well-known structure in 235U neutron induced fission cross section is interpreted as a manifestation of quasiparticle excitations of fissile nucleus. The discrete character of such excitations leads to step-like structure in the intrinsic state density. Taking into account collective excitations the observed irregularity in fission cross section using the threshold dependence of the two-quasiparticle state density for outer 236U saddle point is analyzed quantitatively. Evaluation of excitation threshold is agreed to energy gap and fission barrier
