Full text: The excited states of the diatomic molecule LiCa were investigated theoretically by means of CASSCF/ MRCI-calculations. The results of these calculations will be presented alongside experimental results. Li and Ca have been investigated recently on superfluid helium nanodroplets (HeN). It was shown that the atoms are located on the surface of HeN. An investigation of the diatomic molecule LiCa on HeN was realized by two-photon photoionization spectroscopy. Since LiCa is expected to be located on the surface the perturbation of the diatomic transitions should be weak and these results can be compared with theoretical predictions. (author)
