Mineralogy of uraniferous hydrocarbons in carboniferous-hosted mineral deposits, Great Britain

Description

Solid hydrocarbons from low-temperature hydrothermal mineralised veins in the Carboniferous Limestone of Great Britain are uranium-enriched at several localities. In samples of the two most highly uraniferous hydrocarbons, the uraninite contains detectable traces of lead, and is directly associated with galena inclusions. Galena ore mineralisation does not occur within the hydrocarbons in the two deposits, and the lead is therefore probably radiogenic. Nickel-cobalt mineral inclusions occur in hydrocarbons from three localities, in regions where nickel-cobalt ore mineralisation also occurs. 95 refs.; 8 figs.; 2 tabs
