Description
Simulation of showers requires extrapolation of models of hadronic interactions beyond the range of accelerator measurements. After briefly reviewing the problems following from this fact, I comment on the proton-proton cross section at air shower energies and on the use of a simplified scheme for efficient simulation of longitudinal shower profiles. copyright 1998 American Institute of Physics
