Development of Preprocessor for the Exchange of Equipment and Materials' Specifications Sheet Data Based on ISO 15926

In process plant projects, diverse stake holders, such as engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) companies, equipment manufacturers, and contractors frequently exchange various types of information with each other. Specifications sheet data are a typical example of such information. This data contains project information, operating environment information, part information, as well as detailed specification information. In this paper, we propose a method to develop a preprocessor that exchanges specifications sheet data pertaining to equipment and materials using the ISO 15926 standard. The preprocessor converts native specification sheet data to neutral data in ISO 15926 using a mapping file. The mapping file has various sets of information required to represent each item of the specifications sheet using information resources of the ISO 15926 standard. The proposed method is demonstrated by developing a prototype system and experiment that converts the specification data sheet of a pump.
