High spin rotational bands of Hafnium nuclei in deformed Hartree-Fock and angular momentum projection model

  • 1. Institute of Physics, Bhubaneswar (India)

Description

Rotational states are observed up to very high spins for many Hafnium nuclei (including high isomers). In order to study the structure of Hafnium nuclei at high spins deformed Hartree-Fock (HF) and Angular Momentum Projection model were used. From the self consistent solution of the HF equations the deformed orbits are obtained. Here the prolate HF solutions are considered, since these are lower in energy. Various intrinsic states are obtained by making suitable occupations in the HF orbits near the neutrons and protons Fermi surfaces. Angular momentum projection from the intrinsic states gives the spectra and other spectroscopic properties (like matrix element of electromagnetic operators). The band structures of 172,173Hf using this model are given
