Description
Analytical expressions for the two-body density matrix, the pair center of mass and relative density and momentum distributions for the 4He, 16O and 40Ca nuclei are obtained within the low-order approximation to the Jastrow correlation method. The effects of the short-range nucleon correlations on the two-body nuclear characteristics are investigated. Relationships connecting the two-nucleon overlap functions of the eigenstates in the (A -2)-particle system with the asymptotic behaviour of the two-body density matrix for the ground state of the A-nucleon system are obtained. This makes it possible to estimate the two-nucleon overlap functions, the spectroscopic factors and the separation energies on the basis of realistic two-body density matrix. The procedure can be particularly applicable to two-nucleon (e, e'NN) and (γ, N N) nuclear reactions. (author)
