Estimating molecular hydrogen in diffuse interstellar clouds

  • 1. Queen Mary Coll., London (UK)
  • 2. Open Univ., Milton Keynes (UK)

Description

It is shown that good estimates of the column density of molecular hydrogen in diffuse interstellar clouds may be obtained in two ways: from the atomic hydrogen column density combined with E(B-V); and from optical observations of CH molecules. The latter method is more accurate. (Author)
